               WHO WE ARE

Romanian Student Association represents an initiative designed to bridge a sense of community among the Romanian students in Rutgers. RSA is an organization formed, managed by, and intended primarily for the graduate students in Rutgers University.

RSA is intended to function as a nucleus that brings together the Romanian community in and around Rutgers: professors, researchers, undergraduate students, and other people active in the Romanian community. As such, our association is primarily focused for Romanians and Romanian descendents.

One of the important goals of our association is to promote Romanian culture and traditions in and around Rutgers. By organizing cultural events, social, and traditional activities, our association targets a much larger audience. We encourage the participation in RSA events of people having an affective connection to Romania and in general everybody interested in Romanian culture, history and traditions.

               HISTORY

In the mid and late nineties, more and more Romanian students have come to Rutgers University in order to complete their graduate education. Computer Science Department has been, and remains the department with the largest number of Romanian students. Electrical and Computer Engineering, Math, Biology, Civil Engineering, Economics are among the most prominent departments that contribute to the Romanian graduate student community. At present time, there are more than 25 students pursuing their doctorate or master degree in Rutgers.

The sense of community and a close connection between its members have been preserved since early arrivers at Rutgers. Although the idea of creating the Romanian graduate student association has been around for long time, only recently the initiative has materialized. Here we are today, with an established agenda and lots of ideas for further development.
